I gave my first injection last Thursday. 4 units of Insulin to be given SQ in the resident's arm. I drew up 4 units of air, injected it into the bottle, drew up 4 units of insulin in the syringe, passively recapped the needle, and entered the resident's room. After ID-ing her and making sure I knew what I was doing, I gave my first injection. Just like that. Quick. Easy. I was done before I knew it. I walked out of the room and started to shake. My hands trembled a little and my teeth clattered. I didn't stop shaking until Sunday night. Yep. I'm the weird one who shakes AFTER the super-scary task. No, not before, like normal human beings would... All nursing professors say that there is no such thing as "normal." But in my experience, there is definitely such thing as "not normal."
Anyways, this "not normal" person is now attempting to study for her ATI's which she can't really bring herself to buckle down and just get it over with. Hmm... What should I make for dinner now?
I'm deeply concerned about those midnight coffee runs. Try imodium. ;)
ReplyDeleteOoh that was snarky! Haha maybe a poor wording choice on my part.
